Description:
VEAP's Liscensed Social Workers provide short-term case management, information and referral services, advocacy and other professional social work services. They help people strive to increase their capacities for problem solving and coping, help them obtain needed resources, facilitate interactions between individuals and between people and their environments. They work with organizations to assure equal justice for everyone and influence social policy. The goal is to supplement the client's own strengths and resources so they can work toward an appropriate long-term solution.

VEAP's Social Services help through the following programs:

Emergency Assistance Fund
provides financial assistance to residents in need of housing, utilities, transportation, medical prescriptions, and daycare.

Car Care Program
utilizes donations from local car repair providers so residents do not lose access to jobs, school, or health care.

Support Teams
help clients create a network of support for themselves as they plan and implement strategies to solve the emotional, financial, and physical challenges in their lives.

Certain times of the year are especially difficult for households already stretched to their limits. A little extra help during emotionally and financially stressful times provides powerful benefits.

Holiday Gifts
provide gifts to children ages 0 - 18.  Parents are able to come to our free Holiday Store and select the right gifts for their children. VEAP is also the only agency that allows grandparents to register for our Holiday Store so they too can remember their grandchildren during the holidays.

Birthday Bags
c
ontain the basic ingredients (frosting, cake, streamers, candles and party favors) to celebrate a young child's birthday ages 1-12 years. Parents who access the Emergency Food Shelf receive a Birthday Bag during the month of their child's birthday.

Back-to-School Program
provides school supplies and a backpack or calculator for neighborhood kids in need starting in grades K-12.

Additional services including Food Shelf, Transportation, and Seasonal Assistance are also available at VEAP.
