Camping experience provided for kids affected by cancer. For kids with cancer, KAMP KACE (Kids Against Cancer Everywhere) is the place they can enjoy the things most of us take for granted - fun, friendships, and a time to forget about hospitals and treatments.
Kamp KACE is a special summer camp experience for children - kindergarten through senior high school - who have cancer. Brothers and sisters are also invited to attend. It is the mission and purpose of Kamp KACE to provide a camping experience for children with cancer and their siblings in an outdoor environment.
Kamp KACE allows children with cancer to experience something that they would not otherwise have a chance to do. Children whose activities must be curtailed and monitored because of treatment find a sense of freedom and wonder at Kamp KACE.
Pediatric oncologists and oncology nurses from Dakota Clinic, Innovis Hospital and MeritCare/Roger Maris Cancer Center are on duty at all times to distribute medications and provide other necessary treatment. This makes it possible for almost any cancer patient between ages 5 to 17 attend the camp at any stage of their treatment.
$25 registration fee may be waived if family is unable to pay it. A week of camp costs $500 per camper and is funded 100% by donations.
