Description:
*FOOD SUPPORT PROGRAM - assists low-income persons and families so they can purchase food and better meet their nutritional needs. Those who qualify are households with net incomes 130% at or below poverty level or if all household members qualify for GA (General Assistance) or SSI (Supplemental Social Security Income).

*Minnesota's Prescription Drug Program helps low-income Medicare enrollees pay for prescription medications. Call for eligibility requirements.

*GENERAL ASSISTANCE (GA) PROGRAM - provides monthly cash grants for vulnerable persons who qualify. Must have disability or be unemployable. Must earn less than $203.00 a month per person or $260.00 a month per couple. MINNESOTA FAMILY INVESTMENT PROGRAM (MFIP) – This is state welfare program. All participants are expected to be employed while being on the program, with a few exceptions. There is a 60-month lifetime limit for assistance. DIVERSIONARY WORK PROGRAM (DWP) – 4-month program that provides services and support to eligible families to help them move immediately to work rather than go on welfare. Supports your family while you work or look for work. May be eligible for support such as help with rent, utilities or other housing costs; personal needs allowance and childcare assistance. The 4-months of DWP do not count for the 60-month lifetime for the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), the state’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. May be eligible for food support, health care and childcare assistance while on DWP. After the 4-months, you may be eligible for MFIP. MINNESOTA SUPPLEMENTAL AID (MSA) PROGRAM - provides a monthly cash supplement to those who are recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or to those who are eligible for SSI. For disabled, blind or aged persons who have resources less than $2,000 per person or $3,000 per couple.
