Offering a variety of programs for people with cancer and their caregivers including: Transportation, Respite Care, Visitation & Companion Services, Home Assistance Services, Patient Advocacy, and Information & Referrals.
Transportation: Provides medical transportation services for patients to doctor appointments, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. At patient's request, will provide a volunteer escort to medical appointments. Require at least a 24 hour notice for local rides. Transportation to out-of-town medical appointments is available, but do require more advance notice to arrange transportation. Handicap accessible rides may be available at request.
Respite Care: Assistance to in-home caregivers of patients. For family caregivers. Volunteers receive training and commit to a regular schedule, usually 2-4 hours per week. They do not give medications, provide housework or nursing care.
Visitation & Companion Services: Program offering support to cancer patients by phone or personal visits. Offers friendly visiting. Patients can be matched in a one-to-one relationship with another senior for peer mentoring.
Home Assistance Services: Provides assistance in the home for non-medical needs. Assist with shopping, mail management, chores and home modifications.
Patient Advocacy: Retired nurses/professionals are available to accompany to medical appointments to obtain information and share with family members at patient's request. Also available to advocate for patient on behalf of the physician.
Information & Referrals: Provides information to callers and referrals to community resources. Offer referrals for food, financial assistance, transportation and housing.
