DODGE COUNTY FOOD SHELF – The food shelf provides individuals and families with a variety of nutritious food and the opportunity to stretch limited household budgets. To use the food shelf a household’s income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. However, emergency food assistance is available to any household experiencing a food crisis, regardless of household income. The food shelf is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) – Low income households may receive financial assistance to help cover a portion of their household heating expenses. Crisis assistance and heating related emergency repairs are also available. Eligibility and amount of assistance are determined by household income, household size and home heating source.
WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (WAP) - Low-income homeowners and renters are provided an energy audit and conservation measures to help lower heating consumption and expenses.
REACH OUT FOR WARMTH PROGRAM - Assists households who do not qualify for either program and meet a higher set of income guidelines.
HOMELESS PREVENTION AND ASSISTANCE – Households that meet eligibility criteria may qualify for one time rental assistance based on program availability and funding.
HEADSTART – Semcac Head Start is a high quality pre school program for children between the ages of 3 and 5. Children participate in a variety of educational activities that encourage a love of learning and lifelong healthy habits. Children receive medical and dental care, have healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy creative play in safe settings indoors and outdoors.
TRANSPORTATION—Semcac buses provide transportation for the general public and special groups, such as persons with disabilities and senior citizens. Rides are provided to medical appointments, work, daycare, preschool, local business needs, senior dining and other special requests.
VOLUNTEER DRIVER PROGRAM—Volunteer drivers provide transportation for persons age 60 and over, Medical Assistance clients and other clients of county departments of human services. Transportation is available to medical appointments, personal appointments and senior dining.
SENIOR DINING—Nutritious noon meals are made available for seniors age 60 and over and their spouse.
MEELS ON WHEELS-- Volunteers deliver hot nutritious noon meals to persons age 60 and over who are homebound or have difficulty preparing their own meals.
RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM—RSVP coordinated volunteer opportunities for people 55 and over by matching interests, skills and experience with the needs of local non-profit agencies.
SENIOR AND CAREGIVER ADVOCATE—Seniors age 60 and over and their caregivers receive assistance with identifying their needs, making informed decisions, accessing health and community-based services (such as Medicare and other health insurance), and ongoing contact to reduce isolation.
