When life expectancy is limited, Fairview Lakes HomeCaring & Hospice staff
and volunteers provide comfort care and focus on improving the quality of
remaining days. Hospice provides medical, emotional, social and spiritual care,
all in the familiar setting of your own home whenever possible. The same kind of
care may also be provided in assisted living, group home, nursing home or other
inpatient settings.
The goal of hospice is to reduce pain and discomfort while offering guidance and
support to you and your family. We add to the loving care your family provides
in a variety of ways:
• Regular visits from registered nurses with advanced
training in pain control and symptom management
• On-call nurses available 24
hours a day, 7 days a week
• Home health aides to assist with bathing and
other personal care needs
• Medications, medical supplies and equipment
needed at home
• Social workers to provide supportive counseling and other
assistance
• Visits from chaplains respectful of your family’s faith and
belief system
• Trained hospice volunteers who provide a comforting presence
for you or your family
• In a medical crisis, around-the-clock nursing care
at home or short-term hospitalization
• Thirteen-month bereavement support
for your family members and loved ones
• Support for the entire
family
