The mission of this coalition is to provide caring support and education for persons who are experiencing grief and loss. Learning about the process of grief and sharing our experience in a confidential setting offers the hope of personal growth and healing.
Losses may include:
- Death of a spouse or parent
- Death of a child, pregnancy and infant loss
- Death of a family member
- Death of a significant other
- Death of a friend
Sessions are held weekly begining with a half hour of social time, continuing with prayer, followed by a brief educational program. The final hour is spent in a small group setting. Participants have the opportunity to share with persons who are experiencing similar losses. Trained volunteers facilitate these small groups.
This is a mutual self-help group providing education and support in a safe non-threatening atmosphere. All are encouraged to participate at the level they feel most comfortable. The goal is to help each other understand and express feelings of grief and to develop healthy coping skills.
Participants are welcome to come to any or all of the session. This group is an open group and new members are always welcome. Members move on when their needs change. Individuals may register and join the group at any time by attending a meeting or by contacting one of the sponsoring churches. There is no fee and church affiliation is not required. A free-will offering will be accepted for refreshments.
The West Metro Grief Support Coalition is sponsored by 13 area churches. This grief support group rotates between several of these churches. Call for current location.
