Description:
Children's Cancer Research Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer by providing funds for research and training relating to the prevention, treatment and cure of childhood cancer. They also educate the public about childhood cancer and support quality-of-life programs for pediatric cancer patients and their families.

CCRF provides critical funding to the University of Minnesota for research and training related to the prevention, treatment, and cure of childhood cancers and currently is supporting research in these areas:  cord blood program--seeks out  new ways of using blood from umbilical cords for children whose cancer treatments require transplants; hematologic/metabolic disease program--studies new applications for using blood and/or marrow transplants; immune-based therapies program--investigates how to use the body's natural immune system to fight cancer; brain surgery program--investigates ways to improve the survival and long-term quality-of-life for children with tumors of the brain and central nervous system;high risk malignancy program--looks for new therapies for children who do not respond well to the traditional chemo and radiation therapy treatments;genetic and environmental studies--ongoind investigations into possible genetic and/or environmental factors associated with a child's risk of developing cancer.
