The American Tissue Services Foundation, a nonprofit organization, rebuilds lives through organ and tissue donation from healthy people who have died suddenly, often through accidents, and are in good health. ATSF focuses on the donation process and the families and organizations involved; it does not process or distribute tissue for transplantation.
ATSF works closely with grieving families to provide compassionate telephone support during the consent and history gathering activities; to find support groups; to support a volunteer network of donor family members; to relay non-identifying information about recipients to donor families; and to promote memorial events for grieving families. ATSF also sponsors and participates in events promoting public awareness about the importance of ethical organ and tissue donations. And, ATSF partners with companies developing innovative design of tissue products for medical use.
